ByteWish Foundation was formed in 2024 in Canton, South Dakota, with one job: build the software teams need to operate, then give it away.
Where the wish comes from
There was a time when getting on the internet meant buying a browser in a box. Once browsers became free, everything changed, and nobody misses the box.
The software that runs a business is still stuck in the box era. Time tracking bills by the seat. Payroll takes a cut. Tax filing costs more than the tax due for many foundations. For a business running close to the margin, or a nonprofit stretching every grant dollar, those subscriptions decide what gets done.
ByteWish Foundation was formed to be the other option. We build one app with the essentials, hold it to a professional standard, and charge nothing. The name is the promise: a wish, granted in bytes.
Three rules we don't break
Free means free
No trials, no seat limits, nothing held back for a paid tier. The one charge we cannot remove is your bank's fee for moving payroll money, and none of it comes to us.
It has to be right
Payroll is somebody's paycheck, and a tax form is a document the IRS will read. Withholding follows the Publication 15-T tables, and a Form 990-PF is checked against the IRS schema before it goes.
It stays free
We are a foundation, not a company with investors to repay. Nobody here is waiting for your team to get big enough to start charging.

Is ByteWish software really free?
Yes. ByteWish Foundation exists to give business software away. The tools at app.bytewish.work are free to use.
Who is ByteWish for?
Businesses, nonprofits, and any team that needs time tracking, payroll, or tax filing software without a subscription. Tax Map even works without an account.
Are donations tax-deductible?
ByteWish Foundation is a 501(c)(3) private foundation, so contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Your tax advisor can confirm what applies to your situation.
